There are so many things to consider when choosing a trash or dumpster cleaning system. The good news for Sparkling Bins’ clients is that we specialize in helping our clients make the right decisions based on the business that they are looking to grow.

One of the areas of consideration in bin cleaning systems is the combination of GPM and PSI that should be utilized during the cleaning process. As we explain to all of our clients, GPM and PSI are both equally important for the use of your cleaning heads. But what does all of this really mean?

PSI refers to the amount of pressure produced and GPM refers to the amount of water flow. Each Sparkling Bins bin wash system is designed to have the most effective combination of PSI and GPM to ensure the most efficient dumpster and trash container cleaning experience.
Think of PSI (Pounds Per Square Inch) as the force used to really blast away the dirt and germs on the surface of the trash or recycling bins. It’s the amount of cleaning pressure a machine can produce. GPM (Gallons Per Minute) is the stream that rinses all of the debris and bacteria away and impacts the amount of water coming from the machine.
In the power washing industry the PSI/GPM combination is used to create Cleaning Units (CU). To get to the right CU, we simply multiply the PSI by the GPM. This gives manufacturers and entrepreneurs purchasing equipment a measure to go by in order to understand the machine’s performance capability, so that they can compare different types of cleaning units.

Let’s look at the math in this example:
Pressure washer A has 3000 PSI and 4.0 GPM = 12,000 Cleaning Units
Pressure washer B has 1500 PSI and 8.0 GPM = 12,000 Cleaning Units
There is a common misconception in the pressure washing industry that PSI is more important than GPM. This is absolutely not the case! If you look at the above example, the rinsing power is greater in pressure washer B than the force. This means that pressure washer B will rinse the dirt and grime away faster than pressure washer A. Although the CU is the same in both pressure washers, the higher the GPM, the faster the job will be finished.

Sparkling Bins has the most extensive experience in the trash and dumpster cleaning business. Our certified technicians and design teams have tested many different types of GPM and PSI ratings until we found combinations that were just right, creating maximum performance in our equipment.
